Philosophy

The key principle guiding our approach to productivity improvement is pro-active resource use - with particular focus on individuals' use of their own time and energy.

In some situations, we look at opportunities for retraining, goal-setting and self-improvement by individual clients. In assisting clients in leadership or initiator positions, we often look at avenues for replication of personal productivity improvements from top-down or from center-outward. We may help the client adopt new tools or habits for specific purposes, but we try to approach this in terms of a broader plan for them to exercise greater control over their own time and methods generally.

Let's take our composite example of a client who is a partner in owning and managing a small, fast-growing software development company, and is dealing with serious pressures on his or her own time. When we identify areas where he or she could effectively delegate or out-source certain tasks, we probably would combine that with a new planning and review regimen. This would help him or her focus efforts not only on what is urgent, but more importantly on what is important. (If you're not clear on the difference between the two, you probably are a prospective client!)

Also, rather than focus on how a manager can make his or her team more productive, we focus as much as possible on how we can make that manager more productive - and then look at how his or her own improvements can replicate or duplicate to others by stimulus and by example.
