Welcome to our Online Art Gallery

Investments in artwork today are proving to be more than mere cosmetic improvements in corporate workspaces. It turns out that they're good for business as well as excellent financial investments.

Executive productivity, staff morale, and sales team motivation all have proven to show marked improvement with the incorporation of original artwork into the work environment.

Some venues favor art which stimulates ingenuity or incentives. Other venues favor collections which lend to stress reduction.

The works on display here span a wide range of styles, media, themes and moods, depending on your organization's special needs. Many have been exhibited in galleries and corporate venues in the San Francisco Bay area.

Most likely, you'll find that a few of the pieces here especially "grab" you. Certain pieces may even perfectly suit your tastes.

The artist suggests also considering the option of commissioning a series of works matching such tastes, rather than simply purchasing already finished pieces.

A.K. BURDITT

Preface from Recent Biographical Sketch by the Artist

The best of voyages bring us to encounter new realms of experience, new modes of understanding, not simply new places. In this sense, I've approached my artwork, or artplay, as a voyage. Impressionable by nature, my imaginations always demanded that I pay them heed.

I bolted early from the ingrown county railroad town where I grew up near the Eastern shore. Up and down the seaboard, years in Princeton, New York City, Coconut Grove, and most notably Washington, D.C. There, my painting awoke from conventional depictions to wildly abstract meanderings, and my drawing became a prolific obsession.

Wanderlust, karmic forces, maybe a mix of both moved me to leave the East Coast on frequent foreign adventures. Andean towns and cities. Mexico's sprawling urban valley. Mayan lands. Atolls in Micronesia. Ruins of Nan Madol. Diving shipwrecks in the Pacific. Learning obscure native dialects. Immersing myself in cultures far from mine. Light years from a Minnesota riverside where I recall being newborn.

All the time that I've travelled, I've carried with me the implements of expression. Colours, oils, pastels, charcoals, inks, pencils. The works I'm moved to foster along the way evolve in series and cycles. Depictions. Imaginations. Spirits. Concepts. Adventures in technique.

San Francisco drew me to resettle for the close of the 80's and most of the 1990's just when Loma Prieta was shaking. I anchor my life here just west of Russian Hill, close by the water. Neptune's influences abound. Childhood into adulthood, I've long been a receptor for images and vibrations drawing me to broader knowledge of the spectrum of human experience.

Thank you for the occasion to portray a part of this voyage for you.

ARTWORK FOR YOUR BUSINESS

Imagery Can Be Both
Business-Like and Creatively Stimulating

Art originals are considered as one of the best long-term investments people can make once their long-term solvency and home ownership is covered and intact.

Professionals today find that stimulating works of art can greatly enhance both their home and work environment. They make a statement or set a tone of distinction. In professional or business entertaining, original works on display establish more of an air of host-credibility among guests.

Businesses which once invested in catalog lithographs and warehouse are more apt today to buy from up-and-coming artists, if the works are formatted well and displayed in an upscale setting. If an artist has a good stock portfolio built up, a business has more flexibility in using and rotating the artist's work.

Since most business-persons and professionals take work home when they need to concentrate, they are more apt to enrich their home workspace as well. The days of the door-as-desk and sterile wall-calendar decor are giving way to the age of "quality space."

About the SF ARTworks Program

SF ARTwork was founded in 1992 by Johnny Davis, artist/photographer, to fufill the promotional & educational needs of Bay Area artists and their supporters. The following material drawn from SF ARTwork's public information materials sums it up:

"Through a strong committment to the quality of our services, continuous learning and creative collaboration, we have grown by leaps and bounds in the past four years.

"Currently, SF ARTwork promotes more than 120 Bay Area artists.

"ARTwork's guiding principle is an unwavering belief in the tremendous value art & artists bring to all communities. We are managed by artists for artists. Recognizing that non-profit funds are finite and limited, ARTwork is a for-profit business. We are funded by art sales, rental fees and membership dues. This allows us the freedom and independence to develop programs that meet our members' needs- not funding requirements.

"Rooted in the belief that artists can further their careers by active, consistent and targeted networking, ARTwork has developed a number of services to expand the business skills of artists and build strong, mutually beneficial relationships between other artists, supporters and the community."
